Using CueStream in a Zoom interview
Zoom is where most CueStream sessions run. None of the setup is Zoom-specific, because CueStream never talks to Zoom at all. Here is what actually happens.
There is nothing to install in Zoom
CueStream is not a Zoom app, a meeting bot or a browser extension. It never joins the meeting, so it never appears in the participant list and there is no second name for anyone to ask about. You start Zoom exactly the way you always do. The only difference is that one more desktop program is running on your machine, the same as your notes app or your browser.
How it hears the interviewer
Zoom plays the interviewer’s voice through whatever output device you have selected. CueStream reads that same audio from Windows directly (a loopback of what your computer is already playing) and reads your microphone as a separate stream. That is why it can label who said what, and why Zoom’s own settings for share sound, original audio or noise suppression make no difference to it.
Screen sharing, including Zoom’s own recording
Whether you share your entire desktop or a single window, the answer panel carries the Windows capture-exclusion flag, so the pixels Zoom collects do not contain it. That holds for the live stream the interviewer watches and for a Zoom cloud or local recording of that stream, because both are built from the same capture. Remote control and annotation draw on the shared surface, so they see exactly what the stream sees.
Two monitors, and the part exclusion does not solve
Share one monitor and keep the panel on the other and you have two independent reasons it stays out of frame, which is the setup most people settle on. What no software flag helps with: a phone camera pointed at your screen, someone physically behind you, or a monitoring agent your employer installed that reads the running process list rather than the screen. Those are different problems and CueStream does not claim to solve them.
Does Zoom tell the interviewer I have another app open?
No. Zoom has no view of the other programs on your machine, and the attention-tracking feature that once flagged a Zoom window losing focus was removed from the product years ago.
Does it work in a Zoom breakout room, or on a recorded interview?
Yes. CueStream listens to the sound your computer plays, so a breakout room, a webinar or a recording played back all reach it exactly the way a normal call does.
