Using CueStream in a live coding round
A coding platform is a browser IDE plus, sometimes, a proctor. CueStream helps with the first part, and this page is direct about the second.
Screenshot the problem instead of reading it out
A coding question is usually written down rather than spoken, so there is nothing for a listener to catch. One keypress attaches a screenshot of the editor and the problem statement, and back comes working code plus the running commentary to say while you type it, which is the part actually being graded in a live round.
It hears the conversation around the code
Live coding rounds are half discussion: complexity, trade-offs, what you would change with more time, why you picked the data structure you picked. That audio reaches CueStream the way any other call does, so the follow-up questions get spoken-style answers while the code stays on screen.
What proctoring does, and what exclusion does not
This is the honest part. Some assessment platforms run a proctored mode: webcam and microphone recording, full-screen enforcement, tab-focus and paste logging, and in some cases a downloadable agent that inspects the machine. A capture-exclusion flag affects pixels in a shared or recorded image. It does not hide a process from an agent, it does not stop a webcam filming the room, and it does not suppress a focus-change event in the browser. If a round is proctored, assume the tooling can tell, and read the terms you accepted before the assessment started.
Where none of that is in play
Practice runs, mock interviews with a friend, take-home debriefs, and rehearsing the explanation for a problem you already solved are all rounds where no rule applies at all. They are what most people spend the free hour on.
Does it work with HackerRank, CoderPad and CodeSignal?
The audio and screenshot side works with all of them, because as far as CueStream is concerned they are ordinary web pages. Their proctored modes are a separate question, covered above.
Does it write the code, or explain it?
Both, in one answer: the implementation, and the plain-spoken walkthrough to say while you type it, because a correct solution you cannot narrate reads as a memorised one.
