Using CueStream in a Google Meet interview
Meet runs in a browser tab rather than a desktop app, which changes what each share option actually transmits. It does not change how CueStream works.
No extension, and nothing added to Chrome
A browser extension is the one thing an interviewer can sometimes see, because extensions are listable by enterprise policy and can leave visible marks on the page. CueStream is not an extension. It is an ordinary desktop program that never touches the browser, so Chrome has nothing new to report and the Meet tab is untouched.
Meet’s three share modes behave differently
Meet offers your entire screen, a single window, or a Chrome tab. A tab share only ever transmits the contents of that one tab, so everything else on your desktop is out of frame by construction. A window share sends one window. Only an entire-screen share involves the desktop at all, and that is where the capture-exclusion flag does its work: the image Chrome hands to Meet is composited without the answer panel in it.
How it hears a call that lives in a browser
Because Meet is just a tab, the interviewer’s voice still comes out of your normal Windows output device. CueStream captures that system audio and your microphone as two separate streams, so it can tell the interviewer’s question from your own answer without you configuring anything in Chrome or in Meet.
Chromebooks and managed accounts
CueStream is a Windows program. It does not run on ChromeOS and there is no web version, so a Meet interview taken on a Chromebook is out of scope. If you are interviewing on a laptop your current employer manages, assume that machine is monitored at the process level and use your own instead. Capture exclusion is about pixels, not about processes.
Does Google Meet detect other applications running?
No. Meet is a web page. It can see the camera, microphone and screen surface you grant it, and nothing else on the machine.
Do I need to share my whole screen for it to work?
No. What you share has no effect on CueStream at all. It reads audio, not the share stream. Share whatever the interview needs.
